Have you ever wandered into your kitchen still stretching from that Sunday morning slumber to put a kettle of tea on and started preparing that healthful breakfast? All of a sudden, it dawns on you: you don't even know your way around your own kitchen because it is so messy and unorganized! You are unquestionably not alone in your misery. Nearly all kitchens that you will see are so messy that finding where something is can occasionally take nearly as long as preparing the food that you intend to eat.

What it comes down to is that over time, lots of of us permit our kitchens to become sprinkled with disarray, normally due to the fact that we just can not seem to find enough time to actually rearrange things in the most efficient manner. Realistically, getting the kitchen area in order can be a lengthy task that many will procrastinate. But there are some pretty easy steps that you can take to whip your kitchen back into shape, provided you are willing to commit the necessary time in order to do so.


The first step seems rather impractical, but it is an unfortunate requirement on your road to kitchen redemption. Begin by getting rid of all of your items from all of the cupboards, cubbies, drawers and other storage areas. Take everything out from everywhere and put it aside in organized piles. For instance, group all of your pans in one pile and all of your silverware in another, and so on. In order to get your kitchen back into order you will first have to create chaos, so to speak.

Now that you have piles of your kitchenware scattered about in heaps across the room, it's time to make a decision how you plan to organize this chaos. Make an easy-to-understand diagram, a simple pen and paper pad will be adequate for this, and use it to make up your mind where to put all of your things. First, use big, bottom cabinets for the most space-consuming possessions like pots, crock pots, break makers, etc. Next, devote one or more drawers for miscellaneous items like tape and string, notepads, and others. Third, use the top cupboards for mugs, dished and bowls. Fourth, if you have top space above your cabinets, save this for vases, large serving plates and pitchers. And last, if you have a food cupboard, combine most food items in order to make space for other cooking utensils.


Once you have designed your diagram, and you have a good idea of where to begin, it is time to get cracking. Make sure that you set aside a few hours of your day to manage your kitchen, because you will need the time. It is advisable that you try and employ a friend or two to help you, and entice them with pizza if necessary. Make certain to follow your diagram and your kitchen will become efficient and organized in a just a few short hours.
